Knowledge base article 168Help About shows "Trial" rather than serial number
The problem is caused by a missing registry key. This will be solved in a future update of Ability. In the meantime, no action needs to be taken - if you start Ability and are not prompted to activate, then trial mode is turned off.
If you really want to correct the dialog, you can follow these steps:
- Get a command prompt - enter CMD into the Windows search box if you are not sure where to find it in the system menu.
- Enter the following (copy and paste this line and adjust to your own serial number):
REG ADD "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Ability 8.0\Settings" /v ProductKey /d 00000-00000
Don't forget to change 00000-00000 to your own serial number!
Just to be clear, the above is purely cosmetic and will have no effect on the running of the software.
